Welcome to Little Einsteins, LE Preschool and Daycare was set up in 2007 with the vision of providing learning environments that are child-centered and based on the multiple intelligence framework of Dr. Howard Gardner, a well-renowned cognitive psychologist from Harvard University. The MI approach, which is currently being implemented in the US and other countries and backed by recent research on how children learn, is truly responsive to the needs of the 21st Century. This framework prepares the Indian child to be creative, critical, and divergent thinkers who are able to really ‘think outside the box.’ In our school and Daycare, we recognize that by teaching for understanding, our students are encouraged to problem-solve, to hone their skills, and to develop their individual strengths. All these are qualities that will allow students to ride the tide of the Information Age. Since we understand that every child learns in many ways and each has his own interests and needs, we provide children with multiple access or entry points to a concept through their different intelligence or “smarts”. We also do our best not only to provide a holistic curriculum but also to practice “differentiated teaching” inside our classrooms because we understand the differences in interests, needs, and learning styles among the learners. The mission is to ensure that education is specific to a child’s need where emphasis is on how to learn; as we say “The genius is within.” The LE DifferenceHoward Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligence provides the framework for teaching and learning at Little Einsteins Preschool. At the core of this theory is the recognition that people think and learn differently and that intelligence can be expressed in a multitude of ways. Our multifaceted approach to teaching incorporates each of the eight major intellectual domains defined by Dr. Gardner, and provides opportunities for each student to use his or her unique intelligence to understand the subject matter. In addition we help students understand their strengths and challenges using multiple intelligence as a tool. Students learn to use strengths to acquire new information and work on more fully developing their knowledge in areas that are a challenge for them.Little Einsteins Preschool and Daycare inspires its community to actively seek knowledge and understanding, think independently, reason critically, and embrace challenge. Teaching to the uniqueness of each mind we focus on the process of learning and value the exchange of ideas through collaborative work. While building knowledge of self and an awareness of our connection to other communities, we develop responsibility for earth and humanity. Small class sizes promote individualized instruction; the beautiful campus allows teachers to use all facets of the environment to stimulate learning; Art, Music, PE and English promote the nurturing of the whole child and, infusing everything that happens, a sense of belonging and ownership inspired by a warm and caring community.
